Cantwell Statement on Veterans Day

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released the following statement honoring our nation’s veterans.

“On Veterans Day we take time to remember and honor the millions of Americans who have given so much while wearing the uniform of our nation’s armed forces. In every conflict our nation has faced, men and women have bravely stood up and fought to preserve the freedoms we hold dear. We are particularly proud of the hundreds of thousands of veterans in Washington state, who have proudly served our nation.

“Today, a new generation of veterans is coming back home. Now it’s time to honor our commitments to them. Standing up for our veterans means ensuring they get the benefits they’ve earned and the health care they require. And it means continuing workforce training initiatives so crucial to preparing veterans for civilian jobs. Because after serving our country, veterans deserve the chance to find quality employment to support themselves and their families.

“Today, and every day, we demonstrate our gratitude to those who have selflessly defended our great nation. On behalf of the state of Washington, we thank all veterans and their loved ones for the service and sacrifices they have given.”
