Cantwell: ‘Today we honor the service of the brave men and women serving aboard the USS Nimitz and pray for their safe return’

WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released the following statement regarding today’s scheduled deployment of the USS Nimitz from Naval Station Everett.

“Today we honor the service of the brave men and women serving aboard the USS Nimitz and pray for their safe return,” Cantwell said. “We also honor the sacrifices made by the families and loved ones of the Armed Forces stationed in harm’s way around the world. All Washingtonians are proud to have the USS Nimitz based at Naval Station Everett. We wish Captain Ruth and the entire crew well on the aircraft carrier’s first major deployment from its new homeport. The entire Everett community and Washington state looks forward to welcoming you home.”
