Cantwell Statement on Court Decision Denying Request to Halt Open Internet Rules

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) issued the following statement on a federal appeals decision to deny requests by the telecom and cable industry to delay the FCC’s net neutrality order. The FCC’s rules ensure that Internet service providers or ISPs treat all Internet traffic the same.

“Today is a significant step forward in the fight to defend strong permanent rules to protect consumers and the innovators who help power our Internet economy.  The FCC’s Net Neutrality rules take effect tomorrow and now, no matter how they access the Internet, consumers will finally be protected from blocking, throttling and paid prioritization arrangements which create fast lanes for some and slow lanes for others.”
