Cantwell Applauds Injunction to Block Sale of National Archives Building, Home to Vital Pacific Northwest Historical Records
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) today issued the following statement after U.S. District Court Judge John Coughenour granted a preliminary injunction to stop the sale of the Seattle National Archives building:
“This injunction is good news and a victory for those who rely on the valuable local historical records stored at the Archives.
“Despite today’s victory, the fight is not over. Tribes and other members of our community were not consulted, and I will continue to work with the Biden administration and my colleagues to ensure these precious records stay in the Pacific Northwest.”
