Cantwell Congratulates Award-Winning Student Artist
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) met today with Justin Miller, a sixth-grade student from Snohomish, Washington, and congratulated him on winning the American Academy of Family Physicians’s “Tar Wars” anti-smoking poster contest for Washington state.
“Smoking is a serious health problem, and it’s particularly dangerous for children,” Cantwell said. “As the American Academy of Family Physicians points out, each day, more than 6,000 children smoke for the first time, and 3,000 more become daily smokers. More than four million children under the age of 18 are regular smokers. I’m proud of Justin for taking the initiative to address this issue, and for setting a positive example for both children and adults.”
