Cantwell Statement Honoring Veterans Day

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released the following statement today honoring our nation’s veterans:

“On Veterans Day, we commemorate the millions of Americans who have worn our country’s uniform to protect us, defend our freedoms, and preserve our liberty. We owe our greatness as a nation to their tireless and dedicated service.

“Today, my thoughts are with soldiers and their families, from Washington state and across the country, who have sacrificed for our country. Together, we honor America’s veterans and remember our great debt to them.

“As a nation, we have a duty to ensure that servicemembers, veterans, and their families receive the benefits and recognition that they have earned and so greatly deserve. We must keep our commitment to our veterans.

“This year, Congress passed legislation to ensure that timely, predictable funding is provided to the Veterans Health Administration one year ahead of the appropriations schedule. This legislation provides veterans with access to specialized medical care, and provides the funding needed to provide high quality care to our nations’ veterans.

“I urge all Americans to join me in honoring the service of America’s military personnel, and remembering those who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of our country. We can never forget the noble actions of our veterans on our behalf. Our gratitude for their selflessness is profound.”
