Cantwell Statement on John McKay's Nomination to be U.S. Attorney
WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) today congratulated John McKay on his nomination by President George W. Bush to be U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington. McKay last served as President of the Legal Services Corporation.
"I am pleased that President Bush has nominated John McKay to be the U.S. Attorney for the Western District," Cantwell said. "John has my full support and confidence."
Cantwell said that the terrorist attacks of September 11 have increased the urgency of moving forward with the prompt nomination and confirmation of qualified candidates to national law enforcement positions. "During this national emergency it is important that national law enforcement officers and court officers are put in place as quickly as possible. I am confident that the Senate will move to confirm qualified candidates like John in short order," Cantwell concluded.
