Cantwell Statement on Today’s World Trade Organization Decision

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released the following statement after the WTO announced its latest ruling in the fight led by the U.S. government to end illegal subsidies that have been provided to Airbus by four European governments.

“The World Trade Organization has reaffirmed what we have said all along – the United States plays by the rules. Our aerospace workers build the best aircraft and have faced an unlevel playing field. This WTO ruling raises serious questions about why the Europeans and others still continue to provide illegal subsidies to build aircraft. Governments must end illegal subsidies so all companies can compete head to head in a fair global marketplace.”
