Cantwell Statement on Veterans Day

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released the following statement honoring our nation’s veterans.

“This Veterans Day, we honor the sacrifices made by the millions of Americans who fought to protect our nation and defend our freedoms. On behalf of the state of Washington, we thank all veterans and their loved ones for the service and sacrifices they have given to keep our nation free and strong.

“Today, we reaffirm our commitment to the sacred promises our nation has made to those who serve in the Armed Forces. A new generation of service members is returning from conflicts abroad, and we must ensure they get the health care, services, and economic opportunities they have earned. We must support education and workforce training to help prepare veterans for civilian jobs and ensure veterans who want to start their own small business have fair access to the resources and capital they need. That also means continuing to support programs and incentives for American businesses to hire veterans.  Our returning heroes and their families deserve the best care, support, and opportunity – and our nation must meet that commitment every day.”
