Cantwell Statement On President Obama’s Jobs Speech

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released the following statement following President Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress regarding his plan to create jobs in America and boost economic growth:

“Over the last months, I’ve been traveling the state and talking with Washingtonians about the economy. And what I’ve heard has been clear: We need to spur job creation now.

“Tonight, the President outlined several bipartisan measures to create jobs now. He laid out ideas to create jobs in the private sector, help small businesses grow and build housing and infrastructure. Going forward, we need to continue to address the skills gap by supporting apprenticeships and job training programs that equip Washingtonians with the skills that companies need.

“Americans can’t wait another year and a half for an economic recovery; they need it now. I’m going to continue to fight for a jobs plan that works for Washington families.”
