Cantwell Statement on USS WASHINGTON Naming Ceremony in Seattle

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released the following statement regarding the USS WASHINGTON ship naming ceremony hosted by Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus in Seattle.

“The USS WASHINGTON honors our state’s proud naval tradition and recognizes that Washington plays a critical role in the Navy’s mission,” said Cantwell. “This state-of-the-art Virginia-class submarine will serve our sailors well while paying homage to a long line of Washingtonians who have served before them. I thank Secretary Mabus for this tribute to the important contributions made by our naval community.”
