Cantwell Secures $400,000 to Upgrade Puyallup Sewer System
WASHINGTON, DC – Thursday, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) announced that the Senate Appropriations Committee approved $400,000 to allow the City of Puyallup to protect human health, build on local economic growth and make important upgrades to its current sanitary sewer system. The funding will leverage local investments to upgrade the city’s system and ensure effective operation of the sanitary sewer system.
“I am pleased to support the strong economic and civic development underway in the City of Puyallup,” said Cantwell. “Upgrading the city’s sewer infrastructure will help the city support ongoing growth while ensuring the health of our citizens is protected.”
“Senator Cantwell’s efforts to secure funding for our sewer system upgrade in Puyallup will build on local efforts to redevelop our downtown and grow our local economy,” said Jim Bacon, Puyallup City Manager.
The upgrade to the system is needed to support and continue positive economic development underway in the City of Puyallup. The City of Puyallup has been in the process of redeveloping its downtown corridor. New developments that have been completed or will open soon include a new library, Pavilion events center, and a new city hall.
