Cantwell Statement on Stationing of USS Nimitz at Naval Station Everett

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) issued the following statement regarding the announcement that the Navy will be stationing the USS Nimitz at Naval Station Everett following the departure of the USS Abraham Lincoln.

“Today’s news that the USS Nimitz will replace the USS Abraham Lincoln when it departs for Virginia is great news for the Everett community, our state, and the United States Navy.  Naval Station Everett represents a key national security asset, and recent investments in the base have helped make it one of the most modern in the world.  With the multiple strategic benefits, enhanced resources for service members and their families, and a strong and engaging surrounding community, Naval Station Everett will serve the USS Nimitz well.”
