Senate Energy Bill Passes, Includes Cantwell's Plan to Expand Washington State Biofuels Production
New Market Incentives, Aggressive Technology Demonstration and Loan Guarantees Mean Washington State “Fuel Farmers” Could Add Millions of Gallons to U.S. Alternative Fuels Production
WASHINGTON , D.C. – The Senate today passed new energy legislation, including Sen. Maria Cantwell's (D-Wash.) plan to dramatically expand biofuels production in Washington state and around the nation. Cantwell's office also released a report today detailing how the senator's provisions will boost Washington state's fledging biofuels industry, creating jobs and reducing America 's dependence on foreign oil.
“By expanding production of clean biofuels, produced from crops grown in the North west, we will create jobs right here in Washington state, while lowering prices at the pump and decreasing our dependence on foreign oil,” Cantwell said. “Consumers win, farmers win, the environment wins, and our national security wins.”
